Greta Thyssen started out as a fresh-faced brunette beauty
from Copenhagen. Soon after she was crowned Miss Denmark 1951, she left
her European home and hit the road for Hollywood. And along the way, she
transformed herself into the buxom, blonde bombshell that caused many a
male jaw to drop and hit the floor. With measurements reported at between
40-21-35 and 39-24-36, she had the type of body that made even the most
stoic men's magazine reader stop and whistle. It is no wonder that she
was a favorite model of legendary pin-up photographer and filmmaker Russ
Meyer. She was the perfect combination of European good looks mixed
with Hollywood glamour. Thyssen's Hollywood career consisted
mostly of a few B-movies (like the forgotten “The Beast of Budapest” and
“Terror Is A Man”), a series of Three Stooges shorts (1958’s
“Quiz Whiz, “Pies and Guys,” and “Sappy Bullfighters”), a handful of television
appearance (everything from a spot on “Dragnet” to the quiz show “Treasure
Hunt”), and a few stage rolls (starring the swinging “Pajama Tops”). Along
the way, she was reported to have had an affair with Cary Grant and
broke countless hearts. She worked on stage and screen until the early
seventies and is now retired in New York.
