"Swingin'
Chicks of the '60s"
by Chris Strodder
Cedco Publishing Co., 2000
According to the author, this book (which first
manifested itself as a website) came out of an obsession of 60's actress
Angela Cartwright (Penny from TV's "Lost in Space"). From
there he created a collection of the coolest kitten from the generation
of love. This book includes actresses, fashion models, singers, and even
a few cartoon characters. The list is a who's who of famous faces (and
bodies) from that decade. Each entry talks about the "chick's" biography,
how her look helped define the 60's, and an extra credit section called
"bonus swingability." Although some of the gals featured may also be associated
with other decades, the rule of thumb is if they were important at all
in the 60's, they were included. Many of the gals we've featured in the
Femme
Fatale section are in this book, including: Brigitte
Bardot, Mamie Van Doren,
Jayne
Mansfield,
Raquel Welch,
Anita
Ekberg,
Jane Fonda,
Julie
Newmar,
Sophia Loren,
Marilyn
Monroe,
Tina Louise,
and several others who are bound to pop up in future updates.
